340 CashFlow Validator Service

The 340 Coin Controls coin validator is commonly found in several of our machines including:

  • Guitar Hero
  • NBA Hoops Baseball
  • Dancing Stage
  • Pump it Up

Identifying Problems:

If the machines validator is commonly rejecting coins, or tokens, it will need attention.

The 340 is very susceptible to dust, this is a common issue and can stop the unit from operating properly.

340 Validator Fixings:

IMPORTANT: Before removing the validator please look at the location of long edge connector which is fitted to the validator (id possible take a photo of it before you start.

The validator fits into a plastic cradle, attached to the back of the games coin door.

There are a few different styles of these plastic cradles, but they all operate in much the same way.

The plastic cradle features a place for a small lamp to fit, which illuminates the coin entry slot and there are normally two small metal L-brackets on the rear of the cradle that affix the validtor.

Releasing the Validator from its cradle:

The L-brackets slide to allow release of the validator. They often have a small fixing screw that will need to loosened off, beforehand, so that the L-bracket will slide.

Once the L-brackets have been released the validator should be removed by pushing it to the right, looking at the back of the plastic cradle. Try and avoid disconnecting the wire connector located on the left of the validator (covered later in this article).

There are a few cradles that have a hinged rear plastic panel, this will be allowed to swing open after the L-brackets have been slid out.

Cleaning the 340 Validator:

Once removed it is best to clean the validator with compressed air, or a good blow through it.

Air should be blown into the top entry point, the bottom coin eject and the front coin reject slots. It is likely you will see dust bunnies being blown free.

There is a large flap on the side of the side of the validator that can be wedged open while air is blown through.

Refitting the 340 Validator:

Refitting the 340 in the reverse of its removal process.

However, there are two small pins on the front panel of the validator that will need to be correctly aligned into two small holes in the front inside panel of the plastic cradle.

Once the validtor is back in place, slide the L-brackets back to affix the validtor (in some cases cradles only have 1 L-bracket).

If the cradle has a back door then close this before sliding the L-brackets back.

The Validator Connection Cable

This cable is plugged into the validator via a long 22way connector.

If the cable is dislodged while removing the validator the connector should be carefully pushed back into position.

IMPORTANT: Should the connector become disconnected from the vaildator it needs to be refitted.

Refitting must be done carefully. In many cases we do not use a full size connector, so pin alignment must be checked properly.

The connector should be mated to the pins from the back of the validator to the front. This means that there are likely to several pins that the connector does not fit onto and these pins will be towards the front of the validators fitment.
